With an acute understanding of physiology, Founder, CEO, and racing driver Fiona James knew all too well the toll that extreme environments take on the body. In motorsport, the heat of the cockpit, the insulating safety gear and the physical intensity can form a dangerous cocktail. In sport and everyday active life, heat, fatigue and odour can all stand in the way of performance and enjoyment. Fiona set herself the challenge: find a solution that keeps people safe, cool and performing at their best – without compromise.

Fiona worked tirelessly with professional racing drivers, athletes and scientists to develop a base layer that could deliver on that promise. After extensive testing with NASA-developed Outlast® technology and real-world feedback from both the paddock and the gym, Walero created a range of base layers that regulate your temperature, reduce heat stress, and stay fresher for longer all while feeling great to wear.

Fiona's passion for competition began with a trackday in a Porsche 996 Turbo, which led to racing everything from a Ginetta G50 to a Lamborghini Gallardo GT3, before settling on endurance racing in the McLaren Artura Trophy EVO in recent seasons.

A lifelong equestrian, Fiona also trained and competed in dressage at the highest levels, with her horse Walero helping Team GB to win bronze at the 2003 European Championships – the team's first dressage medal in 17 years. It was only fitting that the name “Walero” would be carried forward from the arena to the race circuit, and now to athletes, adventurers and active people everywhere.
